3 | Laboratory efficiency

Track team & instrument performance with throughput metrics, efficiency parameters, and data accuracy metrics.

The laboratory efficiency dashboard tracks metrics that allow you to track laboratory & team performance. All these metrics can be filtered by time period & instruments in the top bar:

Throughput metrics

These metrics summarize the amount of data analyzed by your laboratpry for the selected period and instruments. Note that a datapoint in metrics refers to the combination of an assay + sample. Meaning one sample for 20 assays generates 20 datapoints.

Below the throughput metric, the trend is calculated and marked green (improvement) or red (regression). The trend is calculated for the previous period of the same length as selected in the metrics filter.

Efficiency metrics

This card tracks (proxy) metrics to gauge the efficiency of your lab:

  • Empty PCR wells

    This is the % of all empty wells on a PCR plate relative to all available wells.

  • Failed plates

    This is the % of failed assay PCR plates relative to the total number of assay PCR plates. An assay PCR plate are all samples on a PCR plate that are analyzed for the same assay.

  • Redo master plates

    This is the % of master plates that are tested for the same assay.

Data accuracy metrics

The data accuracy window shows the following 3 parameters:

  • AI call rate

    AI Call rate is the % of regular datapoints (all datapoints except for controls) that were called by the algorithm (XX, XY, YY) relative to all regular datapoints (XX, XY, YY, uncalled, inconclusive, shortfall, bad).

  • Override rate
    Manual overrides is the % of datapoints for which the algorithm call was changed by a user. This metric is split into:

    • Manual completions: a user edited from uncalled to called (XX, XY, YY)

    • Manual corrections: a user edited a call to a different call (eg. XX to XY) OR a user edited from a call to uncalled, inconclusive or bad.

      (This is the same value as Manual overrides in the Assay quality data).

  • Time-to-authorize

    The time between importing and authorizing an analysis.
