Lab Portal 2.0 marks the release of our first public-facing release notes. This version introduces a new scheduling view and builds on many of the features from our initial release.

Schedule view

This release introduces a third way to view your orders: a Gantt chart. Orders are displayed as left-aligned rows in an interactive, continuously expanding timeline. You can adjust your planning by dragging entire orders or fine-tuning individual dates. It gives you the flexibility to align each order with your delivery timelines.

All of this functionality builds on the shared data model used across all your orders and is fully integrated with email notifications. This allows you to manage a global planning overview while keeping your customers informed in real time.

Email notifications

Lab Portal now sends hourly updates to both the laboratory and the customer owner of an order. These notifications include:

  • Status changes

  • New chat notifications

  • New order changes

Better statuses

We’ve refined our order status logic to better reflect the lifecycle of an order. Here’s the updated business logic:

  • NEW – Registered: Orders can be registered by customers or lab users if they provide an estimated shipping date, a deadline, and the number of markers and samples.

  • NEW – Planned: Lab users can schedule the order in the planner view or order detail screen, then move it to Planned once the timeline is defined.

  • Shipped: Typically updated by the customer. Requires a tracking URL, as well as the list of plates, samples, and requested markers.

  • Processing: A simple status update, usually confirmed by the lab team when processing begins.

  • Results Authorized: This status is automatically updated when results are authorized in Genotyper, or it can be changed manually by lab users.

  • Archived: Orders are automatically archived five days after authorization. Archived orders are removed from the Kanban and Schedule views.
